After accusing Paul Staehle of abuse and controlling behavior, Karine fled to safety with Pierre.
Now, court documents reveal the accusations that Paul is making in retaliation towards Karine.
On July 30, Paul Staehle submitted court documents in the aftermath of his huge fight with Karine.
"I previously found glass in my food,” Paul accuses in those papers, Us Weekly reports.
He added: “I found similar glass shards from an item she broke.”
Paul alleged that Karine’s "friends have been calling me threatening to come to my home and kill me."
“They requested I pay them $10,000," he claimed, "or I would never see my son again."
That certainly sounds alarming … though it is unclear how this alleged behavior may be connected to Karine.
Paul accused Karine of allowing 16-month-old Pierre “to run in the street [and] get into chemical cabinets.”
He repeated his allegation that Karine "assault" him, saying that he has it on tape.
Additionally, Paul claims that he can use this footage to "prove my innocense."
“I fear for my wife’s safety and mental well-being," Paul wrote.
He added: "I fear for my son’s safety.”
In response to Paul’s court filings, a judge has ordered Karine to not contact Paul or approach him within 500 feet.
Of course, Karine has also filed for a restraining order, seeking to keep Paul away from her for three years.
This news comes according to Paul, of course.
Karine is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child.
After their fight, during which Paul livestreamed a visit from police, Karine fled and went into hiding from Paul.
Paul tried to entice his fans and followers to help him hunt her down.
Karine then took to social media to clarify that she and Pierre are safe — and that police know where they are, but Paul does not.
Karine has accused Paul of controlling behavior, making unilateral decisions about their lives without consulting her.
Additionally, she accuses him of preventing her from leaving the house.
She has also accused Paul of sexual assault.
Paul has a history of accusations and arrests, something that was briefly but insufficiently touched upon early on in 90 Day Fiance.
In statements to his Instagram, Paul insists that he can explain these circumstances.
To hear Paul tell it, it would seem that all of his exes, including Karine, are either crazy or opportunists, or both.
Paul has also complained that Karine’s motion for a restraining order would keep him from her or their kids for three years, if it is granted.
He gripes that he would still have to pay alimony and child support.
It is important to emphasize that both spousal and child support is paid as part of one’s responsibility, not as an admission fee to visit.
Many fans have pointed out that this is a situation as complicated as it is upsetting. We all want what is best for the children.
On the one hand, Karine is an inexperienced mother whom many believe needs guidance in safely raising Pierre and Baby #2.
At the same time, many feel that Paul, whose strange behavior and criminal history have always put up red flags, is not well suited to be that guide.
